Blind spots occur from areas of the retina which have no sensory cells. I recommend having a retinal examination by an ophthalmologist.

This does not sound too serious as the problem goes away quickly. There is no anatomical defect. You may get dry eye while staring and not blinking. Try blinking or an artificial tear drop to see you recover more quickly. Sometimes while staring, receptors in the retina can bleach out and take a few minutes to recover. Make sure to take a break every 20 minutes to look off into the distance.
