A member asked:

My dghter is 35 months old.born normal but due to severe fever after birth, couldn't walk properly.doctor says it's diplegia in both legs.there's no problem in the upper body & brain.brain ct scan's normal. pliz suggest proper treatment?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Diplegia suggests injury to the motor centers inside the brain that are involved in the normal movement of her legs. Treatment involves physical therapy, bracing as needed and other modalities based on exam and degree of deficit. Reversal of the stiffness and lack of proper response is not likely. Therapy works around maintaining the best mobility possible.
