It's best to use it : under the direction of your child's pediatrician for a 2-year old. It's calculated at 5mg/kg/24 hours divided into 4 doses, but some young children actually become agitated on an appropriate dose, others very sleepy. If your toddler has severe eczema or neurodermatitis, it's best to see his pediatrician for long-term management &/or referral to a pediatric dermatologist.

Mgt: I would suggest watching for any signs of fever, cough or respiratory distress. If the rash is allergic rather than caused by an infection, the antihistamine may help. In either case, a visit to your PCP is suggested.

NO NO NO!!!: Benadryl (diphenhydramine) will not help the rash and often has very bad reactions in children. Stop fooling around. See a dermatologist, or at least a pediatrician. Meanwhile try cool soaks and Eucerin or Aveeno.
