My sister is suffering from severe headache and fever.after performing ct scan on brain they told us there is some swelling on right side.why actually it happens.is any thing serious ,anything to worry?

Meningitis: I'm afraid I can't tell you EXACTLY what your sister has except to say that many things can cause swelling, headaches, and fever of the brain but when on only one side we must consider things such as meningitis (infection), stroke, and trauma are just a few things that can cause this kind of picture. I hope she gets better.

Maybe important: A CT scan is a good first evaluation, but the details it can provide may be limited. Your doctors probably asked your sister to have an MRI study, based on these preliminary findings. This should help give a better answer. Good luck!
