A member asked:

I asked earlier about crushing a time released medication. can it do me harm like can it burn my stomach or hurt me once i swallow the crushed particles. i am 65 and have never been able to swallow a pill. not physical. i stop it halfway down throat?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Have you talk to your doctor about swallowing difficulty. Extended release pills release small amount of medication over long periods of time. If you crush it, it will become immediately release medication. You can talk to your Doctor Who can write immediate release medication for you. Usually it does not hurt the stomach. You can also try taking the medication with applesauce, sometimes it work
