I am a 60-year-old male, i had an mri of my cervical area and can not curl a 3lbs dumbbell. i have had cervical injections or epridurals and a cortisone shot in my shoulders and physical therapy to no prevail. my last office visit with my neurosurg?

Neck and shoulder complaints can typically overlap. If the MRI showed stenosis or nerve compression the neurosurgeon may discuss surgery to remove the pressure.

Potentially, you could have arthritic degeneration in both shoulders and neck. MRI of shoulders should be added if not yet done. Injections often do not provide touted relief, but physical therapy may yet help. See if you can get treated in a warm pool setting. You might have a local therapist employing "Red Cord" techniques. Look around. And yes, see that orthopedic surgeon.
