The white matter is comprised of bacteria, dead cells, food particles and other debris between the papillae of the tongue. Brushing removes most of this but it reaccumulates during the day. This is harmless as opposed to thick white patches which are often due to yeast infection or a premalignant condition called leukoplakia.

THE WHITE TONGUE IS AN ACCUMULATION OF BACTERIA AND DEBRIS THAT IS NORMAL IN MANY PEOPLE. THE PAPILLAE OF YOUR TONGUE NEED TO BE BRUSHED SINCE FOOD IS STICKING TO THEM.GOOD ORAL HYGIENE WILL PREVENT THIS. DON'T GET ALARMED BECAUSE COVID AND THRUSH CAN ALSO CAUSE THIS, BUT YOU DON'T HAVE ANY OF THESE SYMPTOMS.
