Should i have surgery or not? the pain management gave me the choice of steroid shots or surgery for stenosis at c5. the pain has subsided even before the 2 steroid shots but is still there. numbness in my arm/hand when raised?

Perhaps seek a second opinion. Arm elevation provoking symptoms is not usual if a nerve is pinched in the neck, and is more of a sign of a problem within the brachial plexus. An EMG/NCS can differentiate. Get this more fully evaluated.
