A member asked:

70 year olds woman wants to discontinue alprazolam 0.5 as she is using for long time like almost 3 years and feels like its making her weak and forgetful. what is the best way to taper the dose and stop it to prevent adverse reactions?

Need to taper slowly over several weeks, working closely with your doctor, do not stop suddenly. The side effects, especially anti-cholinergic results can explain many of her symptoms, and agree that this is not the best choice for someone in their 70's.

the doctor prescribing it for elders x3 years must lose his license. Only a doctor can help wean off and use other med that treat the cause of her issue. Xanax treats the symptom of her issue without treating the CAUSE and she gets worse with time. That is why the law punishes doctors that INTENTIONALLY hurt patients. Find a psychiatrist to correct the issue, and report the doctor to the law
