Pre-eclampsia is usually more frequent with first pregnancies, and gestational diabetes is a risk, but usually well controlled with frequent monitoring of glucose levels and treatment with insulin if necessary. Ask your OB physician about a nutritionist consultation, as lowering carbohydrate consumption will decrease likelihood of either condition adversely affecting pregnancy.
