Large turf burn wound infected since july first, healing slowly still inflamed around , been in cephalexin 4000mg a day since july 4th . its july 26th now. why heal slowly? white/gray skin still there but going away slowly.antibiotics to long?safe?

Depending on the depth of the wound, it may take several months for the wound to heal completely. Avoid using harsh detergents, iodine or hydrogen peroxide on the wound as this may slow the production of new growth. Avoid any abrasive action that removes the white/grey skin as this can also disturb the new skin cells. Apply neosporin or vaseline to the wound and keep covered.
