A member asked:

How long does a dry socket from a wisdom tooth extraction take to close?

If you truly have a dry socket, where clot has been lost and bone is exposed and now infected, treatment is required. Medicated gauze is packed into the wind and gradually withdrawn as the infection heals. Time depends on extent of the infection and extent of the surgical wound. Discuss your individual situation with your Surgeon.

The healing of dry socket may take six to eight weeks depending on the extent of infection but patients start getting relief within couple of days once proper treatment is started .
