Atrial tachycardia is an organized rhythm originating in the atrium or AV nodal region and can frequently be terminated by vagal stimulation. If there is no underlying heart disease, it is well tolerated and could be treated with medications or ablation. A fib tends to occur in diseased hearts and is an irregular rhythm predisposing to heart failure, clots in the atrium leading to strokes etc.
