You must see an ophthalmologist to determine the cause of the diplopia and the necessary treatment.Squinting might help if it is associated with a refractive error.

Squinting can relieve double vision (diplopia) that is monocular or binocular. Monocular diplopia can be caused by any irregularity in the light pathway to the back of your eye (astigmatism, rough cornea, cataract, etc). Binocular diplopia is most often caused by poor alignment of the eyes (strabismus, from the Greek word for squinting). Close each eye individually to check. Get an eye exam.
