Monocular diplopia is a symptom that appears almost always in adults or young people with a developed ocular structure. In children with squint, the visual system, still immature, is responsible for suppressing the poor image. This causes double vision to be eliminated, but with the possibility of a amblyopia irreversible.

The potential causes of monocular diplopia are many, but the fact that you are young, have noticed that it occurs in both eyes, and have determined that it goes away with squinting, makes your symptoms consistent with an uncorrected refractive error, such as astigmatism. While squinting is not necessarily harmful, schedule a comprehensive eye exam to determine the exactcause and the best solution.
