It depends-is the BUN number also elevated? If yes, then it may have something to do with hydration. If the creatinine alone is elevated, then it may have to do with renal function. Yes, creatinine is influenced by hydration and ability to urinate that are relatively frequent among many other conditions that can elevate it. Talk to the doctor who ordered the test and ideally a nephrologist.
