A member asked:

Can my ddimiter be high because of costochondritis (inflammation of the rib cartilage) or ovarian cysts? (blood clot tests were done. chest xray, chest and abdominal ct scan and ekg. they came back fine?

How high? All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, a normal d-dimer is more useful in ruling out clots, a mildly elevated level is often not clinically meaningful. Wish you good health!

If you experience shortness of breath or chest pain, please seek medical evaluation. A pulmonary function test, pulse oximetry and cardiac evaluation may be indicated. Please discuss COVID 19 serology testing. Long COVID is one possibility and a virtual consultation with Healthtap is available.
