I'm on warfarin for a mitral & aortic valve replacement. had knee surgery for a broken knee cap. wires were inserted. they need to be removed now. do i have to go off warfarin & use lovanox injections before having wires removed arthroscopically?

The best answer is most likely. This is typically at the surgeon's discretion. You will need to have a discussion with the surgeon to get clarification on this issue.

It is all at your surgeon’s confidence level and based on the risk of bleeding. He might decide to do it with you continuing warfarin or do the heparin bridge if so needed.
