A member asked:

Upon bone marrow biopsy, can findings of markedly hypocellular marrow (10-20% cellularity) be normal in a 37 y/o f patient?

All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, it depends. Bone marrow has focal areas of mostly fat. Depending on your other blood tests, it may not be cause for concern. Wish you good health!

It sounds like an abnormal bone marrow, results of which can only be interpreted in clinical context as it may contribute to formulating a final diagnosis/ ruling out some other potential conditions. A hematologist’ s professional opinion is needed.
