Persistent fever usually means an infection. Determine the cause of the infection and possibly treat with antibiotics if bacterial in nature. Your healthcare costs need to be factored into your total cost of living.

Nocturnal fever has to be investigated thoroughly if persistent as aside from infections, other systemic conditions may be involved as well. There are limitations to an outpatient assessment and visiting a local ER may allow for time to complete tests, including blood and imaging. Having a primary care doc involved may save time and money in the process.
