Depends on Rash: Strep infections can cause fever and fine, sandpaper-like rash on body. Typically DX with throat swab. Several viral infections can include symptoms of fever/rash. Fever typically seen and gradually resolves first 3-5 dys of viral illness. More urgent concern with rash developing that is darker in color and does not blanch (petechiae). Progressive difficulty breathing should be evaluated asap.
