Graded 1 through 3..: Sprains & strains are graded based on the number of fibers within the structure that are stretched/ torn. A grade 1 may not cause enough pain/ discomfort for you to think you need a brace/ crutches, but a brace is a good idea. The brace can protect the joint from further damage until you have regained enough strength to protect yourself in your normal activities.

Many options: Depending on the condition some treatment options may include rest, ice, compression and elevation, bracing, injection, pain medication, anti-inflammatory medication, physical therapy, and surgery. Have it evaluated and get the appropriate treatment.
