Yes....but. Maxillary sinusitis develops when germs enter and feed on mucus trapped within the maxillary sinus cavity. Since there are 2 separate cavities, only one may have retained the mucus fluid needed to sustain the infection. If the other side is clear it may remain so. Treatment for one side would treat the other if it had the tendency to spread.
