Moved from ca to ms, need refill of my adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine). doctor says she cannot call it in, but no health ins. cannot afford office fee of new dr. here. help!

Problem: Adderall (dextroamphetamine and racemic amphetamine) is a controlled ii substance. You have to have a hand written prescription and must be filled in the state in which it was prescribed. A short term solution would be to ask your ca dr to write the prescription and have a family member or friend pick it and fill it and mail you the medicine while you look for a new dr to prescribe it for you.

Access To Care: Check with your local mental health agency to see if they offer special programs for uninsured patients. Most counties around the country have such programs. There are often free clinics that provide free healthcare or healthcare based upon financial need. Medicaide is offered in every state, but the acceptance criteria are often difficult to meet.
