A member asked:

My husband is 65 and diabetic, well controlled on metformin. he has a dx of parathyroid adenoma w/coma (parathyroid removed) colon adenoma polyp & diverticulitis. he eats lots of roasted peanuts. every 2 wks he has diarrhea w/out pain. diet? see doc?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

"Peanuts are especially hard to digest, even though they are not nuts, they are a legume just like all beans, lentils, chick peas, garbanzo beans and soybeans. All members of the legume family should be eliminated if you are experiencing gastrointestinal symptoms such as pain, nausea, stomach aches, abdominal pain or diarrhea." Also peanuts can harbor mold which could cause problems.
