I had a ct and didnt know in my first week of pregnancy. it was abdomen/pelvic with contrast. did this harm the baby or put them at risk for cancer?

CT scans also have some radiation involved, but less than routine X rays. Let your Obstetrician know about it so they can do more appropriate testing as the pregnancy progresses.

Normally they will ask if you are pregnant or could be before they do a CT scan; if so a pregnancy test is done. In your case it seems that step was missed. Depending on the protocol, a CT can have significantly more radiation than an X-ray and the actual exposure to the fetus needs to be determined by the physicist at the hospital. Despite this, the risk is still considered to be very low.
