My wife developed a white patch on her forehead after a sun burn. and now after 4 months a few more tiny light spots have developed around the patch. doctor said it is post inflammatory hypopigmentation, but can it spread to areas just around it?

Since pics are not provided, I suggest that you consult a dermatologist. At the visit, he will not only view the white areas, but touch them to see if they are raised, crusted, or rough in texture. This data will help to dx the problem and possibly treat.
