I keep finding random bald patches/spots. started with my side burns, then my right eyebrow, and now in the back of my head. what could be the cause?

Random baldness: If you are sexually active and the patches are only partially bald, get tested for syphilis. If the patches are completely bald without scarring or inflammation, it may be an autoimmune condition known as alopecia areata. Underactive thyroid gland causes hair loss, but usually not in patches. Fungal infections (tinea capitis) can cause hair loss in patches with inflammation and/or scarring.
