It is reassuring to know that the brain MRI was normal. The nerve that controls the activity of muscles of your face is called the facial nerve, which is a cranial nerve. If the nerve is constricted or in some way, the muscles that are served by the facial nerve may be dysfunctional. That means they could spasm or weaken and cause the symptoms mentioned. Everyone has a little facial asymmetry. Our right sides are NOT exact mirror images of our left sides. If you are visually aware of asymmetry, however, you have more than a little facial asymmetry. Please see a specialist Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeon for evaluation.
