I was eating the other day & i suddenly felt pain when swallowing. it was as if the food was catching on something in my throat, causing pain. it only lasted for a few seconds and i never felt it since. what are the chances of throat cancer?

The chances are very very close to zero. You probably had a muscle spasm while swallowing, which occasionally happens. If it happens repeatedly, then go see your doctor for an evaluation.
