Yes: There are two main causes for pain on the medial side if the knee, 1) meniscus tear & 2) arthritis. If the MRI showed protrusion or extrusion, then yes...A meniscus tear is possible. If your ortho surgeon told you to "live with it" then it wouldn't hurt to get a 2nd opinion.
