Most of the times it does resolve by itself. Some other times symptoms linger for some time, on and off. Starting with keeping a log with type and quantity of food and drinks ingested helps by identifying sometimes the culprit, many times gluten or fermenting foods. Keeping in touch with same doc helps as work up has to be coordinated properly and may include stool studies and/or scopes.
