A member asked:

Lately i'm having heart beats that i can describe as being double. these only occur at rest when my heart rate is typically below 65. when they happen, i can feel the beat in my throat. is this of concern? i'm currently on propranolol20mg for anxiety?

A doctor has provided 1 answer

Your description suggests that you have premature beats. Your heart rate is slower during the episodes because there are "pauses" in the rhythm following a premature beat. Premature beats in an otherwise normal heart are of no concern. Propranolol is helpful in controlling. Advise that you discuss this with your doctor. In the meantime avoid coffee, tea, alcohol, and recreational drugs.
