I have a sharp pain in my side toward the back that hurts every time i twist. other than that it does not hurt. i thought it was a pulled muscle but it has been two years now. what could it be?

Lack of exercise.
Regular aerobic exercise of sufficient intensity and duration to raise core body temperature will strengthen muscles and make the muscles more flexible. It may take three months or longer to get the full benefit.
