I would not worry. Plain X-rays do not give off that much radiation. A C T scan is fifty times stronger. Next time, you can insist on genital shield.

Genital shields may not be used all the time; with the digital systems, covering the genitals can result in an increased intensity of the beam in an attempt to compensate for the covering. Children who have cancer receive many x-rays and CTs during the course of their therapy and most recover and do very well. A single study is very worrisome to the parents but the child is likely quite safe.
