Crushed pills can be mixed in with a spoonful of fruit preserves to mask the bitterness. Make sure that the pills you are crushing are OK to be crushed. There are many extended release or specially coated tablets that should not be crushed. Most capsules should also not be opened or crushed.

Consider placing the crushed fragments into a spoonful of applesauce or grape jelly to mask the bitter flavor.
