Fatalities related to brain eating amoeba from tap water are usually as a result of either putting your head underwater, rinsing sinuses and nose cleansing with tap water contaminated with the amoeba. Swallowing contaminated water, i.e. drinking tap water has no adverse effect on your health.

You appear very concerned and indeed focused upon parasitic presence in your water supply. Believe your best approach is to find an independent company to thoroughly test your water, especially if the source from the tap comes from a well.
