I don't recall tap water ever being a source of infection here but do not know about UK. I would spend some lbs and go to uptodate.com and read all about it. Then discuss with your local public health/water supply people.

Cases of amoebic meningitis mostly occur within warm brackish water and contact from tap water is very rare. Have your tap water tested for organisms and contamination.
