A member asked:

I have an 11-month old slightly raised scar on my ankle from scratching, what are the best treatments to help it fade?

Two basic treatments. For one just leave it alone for a year & it should fix itself. A second approach could include using an over the counter steroid cream that both reduces itching and thins the skin over time. Overuse could thin the skin too much. If you just leave the area alone it should fix itself over time.

Would reinforce Dr. Ferguson's suggestion about leaving it alone. Messing with the scar is likely to cause more trouble than be helpful. For healthy diet: http://www.choosemyplate.gov/., exercise 30 minutes/day, drink enough water daily so your urine is mostly colorless, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs. Get HPV and Covid vaccines. Wish you good health!
