What would be causing my mild but consistent abdominal pain, i have no other symptoms just pain around the belly button that somewhat improves when i lie down, it's been going on for three days. any advice?

There are many reasons for that. It does not sound serious but should be examined by a doctor to check for umbilical hernia or any other cause. You do that and you will be OK
