Occipital blocks are sometimes done in an attempt to control migraine headaches, but, in my experience, work only occasionally. If you have developed more pain at site of injection, and if the site is hot and red, there could be a local infection. Contact your doctor today and get this looked at. Consider visiting a neurologist, if this has not yet been done.

If the headache has not changed it is possible that the block did not work. If the pain has changed in character or intensity it would be best to let the doctor who performed the procedure know. In general there is no extra damage with blocks, but complications are unfortunately always possible and have to be recognized timely.
