A member asked:

Do xrays and ct scans show the damage done to a bone from a blow or do they only show if there are fractures or not?

Imaging studies can show other types of damage as well, e.,g, subperiosteal hematoma. It is important to let the radiologist about all the clinical details. Wish you good health!

X-rays and CAT scans can show broken bones but CAT scans are more sensitive for soft tissue and ligament injury. You should talk to your doctor about which test is appropriate for you.
