Hi! in 2017 i had a platelet count of 318. this year i got a platelet count of 405. is this normal? why would it jump? i dont have any symptoms of concern?

The platelet count may vary and if there is inflammation or an infection, a repeat test may be indicated. Please follow up with your PCP.

All laboratory results need to be interpreted in the clinical context and the doctor who ordered the tests is usually in the best position to do that. Talk to the doctor who ordered the tests. Having said that, Iron deficiency is a common association with elevated platelet counts. Iron deficiency is common in women of reproductive age. Talk to your doctor about taking oral iron.
