Lower and middle back pain can be related to many things. Muscle strain is just one of them. It can also indicate a kidney infection or problem with your ovaries or other internal organ problems. Your best bet lacking a clear injury would be to get it checked out by your Dr and make sure to rule out any other causes. They can also recommend treatments.

Agree with Dr. Kratzberg. You should try to get exercise daily. Raising core body temperature through exercise will improve your muscle health and prevent backache. For healthy diet: http://www.choosemyplate.gov/., exercise 30 minutes/day, drink enough water daily so your urine is mostly colorless, have safe sex, no tobacco alcohol weed or street drugs. Wish you good health.
