See your doctor: Your child needs to see a pediatrician for an evaluation. He likely needs a chest x-ray to rule out lung issues. If clear, your child may need systemic therapy to clear this up. Viruses, bacteria, allergy, and other issues can lead to your description and some of these can become worse if untreated.

He may need abx: If your son has been sick for only a few days it's probably a viral upper respiratory tract infection there's not much to do about it. If he's been sick for a week or more most likely he now has a bacterial infection and should be on antibiotics. Contact your pediatrician and have him evaluated and hopefully placed on a course of antibiotics for at least 10 days.
