A member asked:

Had a pelvic ultrasound done (external) it stated the adnexae are clear in the report. is it safe to assume that the fallopian tubes were able to be seen on the ultrasound and are clear and no masses were present ? abdominal x-ray was taken too?

No really. That phrase is used to say there is no abnormality SEEN next to the uterus, which is the adnexal region. But unless specifically stated, you cannot assume that the ovaries and fallopian tubes were even seen in the study. Many times, the individual structures are not seen or obscured by adjacent soft tissues. The abdominal x-rays will not be helpful, either, in evaluating the adnexa.
