You need to go back to your doctor ASAP. If he/she is not available, then go to an Emergency Room for an evaluation. Although the overall complications of this treatment are quite low, there is the potential for infection. Fluid needs to be pulled out of joint and sent for investigation for infection or contamination.

Agree with Dr Nefcy, as the injection typically does not severely exacerbate the knee pain. Infections are rare, but a joint infection is indeed a MEDICAL EMERGENCY. Get this evaluated now.
