There are dozens of strains of the HPV virus. At least 4 strains can cause genital warts, but these strains are not linked to cancer. At least 7 strains are linked to cervical cancer/not warts. The 9 strain Gardasil vaccine helps people avoid those strains if they were never infected. I would not worry much about the wart strains. Pap smears are still a good idea.
