A member asked:

Hello drs and thank you. sorry for my ignorance. if mycoplasma/ureaplasma are normal bacteria in body, how it is related to mycoplasma genitalium/ureaplasa parvum? the stds sound very serious and far from normal. should i also get tested for these?

Don't believe everything you find online! M genitalium is the only one of these that frequently causes health problems, and its only proved problem is nongonococcal urethritis (NGU) in males. In women cervicitis and pelvic inflammatory disease are suspected, but not yet proved to result from M genitalium. M hominis, U urealyticum and U parvum are harmless normal bacteria in the genital tract.
