There are more than 200 HPV subtypes. About 40 of these are spread via sexual transmission. Only 6 of these produce ovarian cancer. In the majority of cases, (94%) people clear the infection with no intervention within 6 months. Some infections last longer can cause persistent warts requiring treatment. Immunity is produced against the subtypes which are effectively cleared.
